Reiki training can be a life changing journey, I know it was for me, but there are many misconceptions surrounding both the training and practice. One of the most common things that I hear from clients interested in Reiki is that they don't feel like they are intuitive enough or spiritually "ready." I always answer the same way, if you feel you are being called to train, it's time to take the next step. When it comes to our wellness journey, we can't wait until we feel completely comfortable with taking the next step, if we do we might never be opened up to the many gifts that would come our way. Since Reiki Training and the Reiki experience in general can be hard to put into words, let’s clear up some of the most common myths.

Myth #1: You Need Advanced Intuitive Abilities to Learn Reiki
Truth: Anyone can learn Reiki! Reiki is not about having a unique gift or innate healing abilities—it is a practice that can be learned by anyone who is open to exploring it. Reiki is life force energy that flows through the practitioner for the best and highest good of the recepient. That means you don't have to read minds or heal people instantly; you are simply a conduit for universal life force energy for healing. I have found through teaching and my own experience that learning Reiki often an avenue that increases your intuitive abilities.
Myth #2: You Need to be a Reiki Master to Practice Reiki
Truth: There are 3 levels in the Usui/Holy Fire III tradition. These three levels can be completed at your own pace. Reiki I & II are commonly taken closer together and many practitioners wait until having more hands on experience to do their Reiki Master Level Training. the best part is that you don't have to commit to all three levels to begin practicing. You can begin practicing on yourself and family after Reiki I as self healing is an essential aspect of Reiki training.
Myth #3 Reiki Training Is the Same Everywhere
Truth: There are many different Reiki lineages and teaching styles. Some focus on traditional Usui Reiki, while others integrate different healing modalities. This is why it is so important to research which training is the best fit for your unique goals & needs. Over the years, I have added different healing techniques that have been essential in my own practice into my trainings as well as maintained the traditional elements. Since every Reiki Master Teacher has had different experiences, this will be reflected in their trainings.
Myth #4: Reiki & Reiki Training Can Only Be Done in Person
Truth: Reiki energy is not limited by time or space. Distance Reiki is a powerful practice where healing energy is sent to a person, situation, or even the past or future. Many Reiki practitioners offer remote sessions and trainings. As someone who has completed in person and online trainings as part of my Reiki journey, I can assure you that both were equally as powerful.
Myth #5: You Need to be Deeply Spiritual to Learn Reiki
Truth: Reiki is not associated with any religion. Many of my students have told me when they were considering training that they didn't feel like they were "ready" spiritually. The truth is that Reiki training is an avenue to deepen your healing and wellness journey. It always takes us where we need to go without any spiritual prerequisites.
